For Teachers, Trainers, Assessors and Coaches in Apprenticeships and Post-16 Training

This Level 4 teaching qualification is designed to develop delegates practical teaching skills helping them to become effective teachers in a range of Post-16 contexts. We anticipate that delegates will already be working in post-16 education as a teacher/ trainer/ assessor or coach. Delegates may have a strong vocational background and will have moved into teaching as a secondary career.
Practice requirement: There is a requirement for a minimum of 30 hours of professional practice for this qualification
Performance requirement: As part of the course you will complete 6 written assignments and a portfolio of evidence. The portfolio will require you to complete a minimum of 3 different observed taught sessions, each observation MUST be 30 minutes or longer, and the total combined time of all observations must be longer than 3 hours. You can to do more than 3 observations if you do not meet all criteria in the 3 observations or the required 3 hours, but the minimum number of observations is 3. These observations should be spread across the course to allow for incorporation of feedback/ development targets in the subsequent observations. These observations will be carried out by a suitably qualified mentor that you will need to be able to provide before joining the course. All observations must be in person.
Mentor requirements: Your suitably qualified mentor must:
– Hold a teaching/training qualification at level 4 or above.
– Hold an assessor qualification at level 3 or above which includes assessment in the workplace
– Be able to demonstrate current evidence of continuing professional development in assessment.
